| So, it's been a whole year since I posted anything on Xanga. After I hadn't updated for a couple months, I decided to go all out and wait for a complete year. It wasn't too hard to wait. The funny thing is, even though it's been a year, I don't really have anything new to say. Since I last posted, my sister Amanda has had another baby. His name is Hunter and he is absolutely adorable. It is a lot of fun to watch Isaac (who is about 17 months) and Hunter (who is 11 months) play together. Even though Isaac is older, Hunter is definitely bigger. They just kind of crawl up to each other, poke at each other, and pull each other's hair. I think they'll have a great time growing up together. Alexis, Gavin, and Paige are getting so grown up. Over the past year I have been spending less and less time at home, and it makes me kind of sad to miss out on all their school activities and that type of thing. I guess I should get used to that since I'm going to get even busier over the next two years, and then who knows where I'll be for residency. On the school front, things are getting more interesting. We have about four weeks left of second year and then I have four weeks to study hardcore for board exams. The first part of boards is really important because the score helps determine what residencies you can compete for. I'm not overly concerned about getting an awesome score, I just want to do well enough to get accepted to a residency program. We also just found out our schedule for third year. I'll be starting on the surgery clerkship, which lasts 10 weeks, followed by internal medicine, which also lasts 10 weeks. Then, after Christmas, I start OB/GYN, family practice, psych, and pediatrics (each six weeks long). I'm pretty excited about starting in surgery...and definitely nervous at the same time. Well, that's the scratching-the-surface update. Now that I've got that out of the way, maybe I'll start with some regular posts.....maybe
I will leave you with some random pictures from Easter. I have posted a ton of pictures in albums on google http://picasaweb.google.com/LinsyB if you'd like to check 'em out.

| It's official, I'm an adult. That's what I've decided since I was
approved for a loan and bought a place in Springfield for the next
three years of school. I am sooo excited. I'm looking forward to living
at a place where I can paint the walls and change the light fixtures
and do whatever I want. Basically, during med school I have to borrow
money for everything. So I decided, why borrow money to pay rent and
never get that money back when I could use that borrowed money to make
a house payment, sell the house when I move, and make most (if not
all)of that money back and then put it toward paying back student
loans? (that was a horrible run-on sentence) Not to mention, another
girl from my class is going to rent from me, so that will take care of
taxes and most of the utilities. So, not only am I a homeowner, I'm
also a landlady!
Other than my house excitement, school is going pretty good. The only
bad thing this unit is that there is a TON of biochemistry involved in
endocrinology, and biochem isn't my strong suit. But I'm getting over
it.
On an exciting note, I just decided to come to Jackson Friday evening
and Saturday. So, if you're reading this and you're going to be in
Jackson, let me know so that we can hang out. I won't be there very
long because I'll have to do some studying, but I want to see as many
people as possible.

| Alright, I'm finally updating!
Basically, I've been studying non-stop for the past two months.
Meaning, I either didn't have time to update or honestly didn't want
to. Last week we had finals for the SSB unit (somatosensory and
behavioral sciences). Let's just say there's a LOT of information to
learn about neuroscience. We had our written test on Thursday and then
a long weekend, which I completely enjoyed. It was great to go home for
a weekend without having to study 24/7. I'm sure my mom enjoyed it too,
since I usually make her quiz me constantly. Now I have one week of
classes (ERG unit- endocrine, reproductive and gastro) before a
gloriously wonderful week of spring break. Our end of unit grades for
SSB will be in this week, so I will either have a great break including
house shopping in Springfield, or a horrible break crying because I
have to repeat the year. Either way it will still be a great week
because it is a break from classes.
I had a good time vegging out this weekend, watching a whole bunch of
movies, including Pride and Prejudice. While watching this movie I
happened to notice the old container of sponge rollers in my mom's
bathroom, so I washed my hair real quick and made my mom put the
rollers in my hair. It made me smile. Having my mom brush my hair and
put in the rollers took me back to grade school, specifically every
night before picture day (and a whole bunch of other days but always
picture day). I might have long hair now, but when I was little I had
LONG hair, like, way past my waist. It was so long that it was really
hard for me to wash it in the shower, so every night my mom would wash
it in the sink. On nights before picture day I'd crawl up on her bed
and she'd put the rollers in. Then, the next morning my sister would
take the rollers out and give me a good coat of heavy duty hair spray.
While you stood in line for the pictures there would be a box of combs
and mirrors so you could check you hair, and I could hear my mom's
voice saying, "Make sure you pull your hair over your shoulder so we
can see it in the picture!" One year I decided not to pull my hair over
my shoulder, my mom wasn't too happy, I think she made me redo my
picture on retake day. Anyways, we put the rollers in last night and
this morning at church I had some curly hair. It was great.
I might as well add a more recent picture, I love the bib!

| Christmas break has come and gone, and I'm missing those six week long
breaks at Union. Even when I had to take J-term it wasn't so bad,
except for chemical equilibrium freshman year, that was a too much of
the same chemistry everyday.
Even though the break was short, it was definitely sweet. I was able to
spend a lot of time with my family, which I enjoyed more than anything.
I really do love spending time with my mom and sisters, nieces and
nephews, grandma, cousin, aunt and uncle....everyone. My mom and I get
along great, and we both love Christmastime. And I love playing cards
and games with everyone. And shopping! Can't forget the shopping!
I really enjoyed New Year's too because I went down to visit Lauren and
Eric. I hadn't seen them since their wedding, and I think I was having
some withdrawal! It was fun to do the same thing we always used to do:
watch movies and TV, eat, and we even played some XBox 360, which I, of
course, am horrible at. It was kind of funny though, because I think
somewhere in the back of my mind I think I was waiting for Eric to
leave mine and Lauren's apartment. It wasn't a long visit, but now I
know where they live so they'll never be able to get rid of me! So
thanks Lauren and Eric for having me over!!
Now it's back to the present...so I'd better go study some anatomy so
that Dr. Estavillo doesn't embarrass me tomorrow by asking me a question
for which I don't know the answer.

| Yay! This is my new nephew Isaac. Isn't he a cutie?! I'm really happy because he's coming to visit this weekend!
And there's his little footsie! | | |
